How to Know if A Risqué Colour Combo Works

If you went to Paris and didn’t take pictures at the Louvre, did you really go?

A day off in Paris means doing what tourists do: taking pictures outside the Louvre and doing the most in a combination of the 2 most popular colours this season: red and maroon. Separately, they’ve been dominating streetstyle looks this season, so I thought, why not put them together?

I chose this bright red top (similar here, here and here) with the fun frill details and paired it a deep maroon skirt (similar here, here and here) for a seasonal contrast.

One of the tricks to pulling off a combo like this is picking 2 colours from the same colour family and since maroon is a combination of dark red and brown, the aesthetics line up for a daring, but beautiful pairing. I finished the look off with white boots (similar here and here) and all over gold accessories to match the gold buckle on my skirt.

Since the outfit is visually poppin’ and accessorized to the max, I kept my hair simple by spraying it down into a low bun, keeping the look balanced with a touch of elegance!
