A style note for when you crave denim on denim, but just can’t with the Canadian tuxedo anymore.
It started off as a happy accident and has turned into a fun style tip I’ve been taking full advantage of and couldn’t wait to share with all of you.
Whenever I’m getting tired of a piece of clothing and I’m thinking of donating it, I ask myself if there’s any way I can repurpose it and turn it into something I do like. Take this denim jacket for example; I wanted a cropped version with a little fray so I chopped off the last 2 inches, which happened to look a little like a denim choker I was looking for.
Since there was already a button on the strip, modifications were easy. Wrap the strip around your neck and cut off any excess length (but always leave a little length at first). Lastly, measure and cut a little hole for the button to go through and voilà, now you have a choker! From there, you can fray it as you like.
Since it was so spur of the moment and happened by accident, I didn’t film the process, but I will be following up with a more visual how-to so keep an eye out for that because I’ve been eyeing up my other jackets to go under the scissors for some more denim on denim this summer.
In other news, I just heard I’m flying out to San Diego on Sunday for a few campaigns with bloggers, Meagan and Jen. I’m hoping we’ll have some downtime to explore a little bit, so if you’ve been or live there, drop some recommendations below!
Otherwise, follow along on Instagram where I’ll be updating daily.
