Plus a DIY story that might surprise you!
It's one of those 'why didn't I do this sooner?' stories, but sometimes you have to wait for the inspiration to hit at the right time to make something magical.
We'll start with the fact that the latest version of the 'athleisure' trend has taken a bit of a turn towards something that looks less like you may or may not be on your way to the gym to something that nobody would ever actually wear on the treadmill, but the athleisure elements are alive and well. (If you still don't know what I mean - check Meshki Boutique)
The second part of the story includes a dress I picked up from a thrift shop that was a size too big for me. It sat in my closet for over a year and I tried to wear it at least a dozen times without feeling that inspirational spark that gets an outfit from my bedroom to the streets. Soo I did what I always do when an outfit isn't serving me inspo anymore: I cut it up.
I left the top with a raw hem, but the bottoms were still too big for me, so I knotted the skirt on one side to add some cinched detail. This is more or less my first attempt at my version of athleisure, so I styled the new set with this mini backpack (on sale!) matching pink glasses and these white sneakers (also on sale!)
Is athleisure a trend you would try? How are you making it your own?
