For the Vancouver Fashion Week finale, I was honored to be wearing a custom one-off dress by designer and friend Connally McDougall, to her SS15 collection.
Krista was working at the Pantene booth for some of VFW and worked some much needed volume & curls into my hair for 2 of the days. So grateful for this woman!
I met Connally last season at Vancouver Fashion Week when she was chosen as Niche Magazine's emerging designer; I was pretty drawn to her as it was refreshing to find someone who was so down to earth in a room full of self-absorbed members of the fashion scene. Seeing her again this month was like falling back into a routine, she had moved to London since I had last seen her, but she still had the same sweet demeanor and I was glad to see her showing her new collection.
She says the last year of her life has been a hard one, but from the hardship has blossomed a beautiful collection that is as honest as the pages of her diary and thus, deeply appreciated by the audience, you should've heard the cheering.
The yellow theme was chosen for a few interesting reasons: for it's scarcity among general color preferences and for the strength it evokes while remaining pleasant to look at. One topic has remained the same though, Connally has kept all her pieces wearable for the modern woman without sacrificing much of anything. A collection that has something for everyone, but at the same time has kept an element of esteemed flavor.
